In all things give thanks
Have you ever had a time in your life where you had a hard time being thankful? The funny thing about this is, that most times we are unhappy at the times we have the most to be thankful for. Which raises the next question: What should we be thankful for? There is a very interesting verse that comes to mind in this situation, and indeed, is the reason for this blog post: 1 Thessalonians 5:18 says: “In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”
So how do we get to the point where we can even enter the world of thanksgiving when it is the last place we “feel” like being. The Apostle Paul has the answer, in verses 9-10.
“(9) For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, (10) Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him”
Did you catch that friends? We are not appointed to wrath, but we are appointed to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ. The news even gets better! The King of all, sent His only begotten Son to die for us on a cross. This is incredible, and notice the rest of the verse: “that whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him”. So what does it matter? Jesus has promised us, through His servant Paul, that we are appointed to Salvation, and that we don’t even have to fear death. Sleep only leads to the glorious morning of being with Jesus Christ. So even if we were to lose all, we have gained all in the end. Being with Christ is the ultimate joy of a Christian! So, this thanksgiving, let’s be thankful that our Best Friend, Jesus Christ died to save us, and get us to heaven.
Let us rejoice, that He has everything taken care of! If you have committed your life to Him, you have much to be thankful for. If you have not, I want to encourage you to do so now. Please ask Jesus into your heart, and to give you a new heart, and accept His gift of Salvation on your behalf paid with His own blood on the cross of Calvary. Once you have done this, rejoice, and be thankful!
