Continuing Onward

After seeing the reaction of those around them to the Mesaiah, the wisemen could have been discouraged with the reaction of Jerusalem to Jesus birth, but notice what the Bible says about their response in Luke 2:9,10. "When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was.10 When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy." Even in the knowledge that those around them were bothered, they kept moving onward. There is a huge lesson in this verse for us as seekers of Jesus. Often times we avoid a place because of the people present. Maybe some wrong has been done to us, or our feelings have been hurt. Bitterness, and anger seem to shut the door to our willingness to into that place. Church is one of those places. We are confronted with different "sinners" with different weaknesses, and often times our weaknesses come in contact with each other, and cause us pain and frustration. Yet, the Bible gives us the solution to the problem. Notice what the wisemen did in verse 10: "When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy." Where were there eyes? On the star! Their goal was to get to Jesus, no matter what and worship the King. How about you? Are you discouraged by the troubled Jerusalem of our human weaknesses? Keep your eyes fixed on following Jesus, and you will not be discouraged. You will realize that He has led you to the difficulties that exist in your life for a specific reason, and that He is leading you through life. Be encouraged friend. Difficulties do exist, but God's Word has the answer for them. Look at how Jesus treated those who were around Him, even in the most difficult times. He is the true star!

In Revelation 22:16 we read:

"I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.
